Making process

Here are the steps that I took to make my prototype of the final maquette.

Using rulers, guides and measurements I drew and cut out the shape for the keyhole using the bandsaw and the 3D sander to create the curve.
For the sliding base I also used measurements from my prototype and the bandsaw to cut out the parts then assembled them together with wood glue and held it in a clamp.
To create the pop up square the wood was cut in half on both planks for an accurate cut.

Using the belt sander I then sanded the edges for a smooth and neat finish.

Glueing the joints together I made hinges with canvas and wood glue, then left it to set in place.

For the pop-up circle I used tracing paper as it was light and flexible but also durable, I cut out the measured circles which were drawn with a compass.
Folding and glue the circle to create the ripples.
Finally I attached a magnet both the wood and pop up circle with Epoxy resin, this held it together securely.
